Conor McGinn recently made a visit to YMCA St Helens, meeting up with Chief Executive Justin Hill, Chair of Trustees Richard Tully, Darren Mulcahy our Housing Services Manager and some of the people we support to discuss our work supporting homeless people.
Taking a tour of the range of services we provide across YMCA work areas of Accommodation, Family Work, Health and Wellbeing, Training and Education and hearing about the history of our YMCA gave us a great opportunity to showcase our work and the difficulties we and our colleagues across the sector face.
Across the country, rough sleeping has increased for the seventh consecutive year and here in St Helens homelessness is a growing problem.
At YMCA St Helens we are passionate about promoting independence, hope and resilience and our work is underpinned by our vision of inclusive communities where everyone can belong, contribute and thrive.
We are really grateful to Conor for taking the time to visit us and we are committed to working in partnership in St Helens to ensure there is a meaningful way out of homelessness for everyone who finds themselves there.
